Stamping Tips | Start your own nail salon at home

The Stamping method is very big right now, and why wouldn’t it be that way? It’s giving your nails instant, pretty and professional looking result. Here I gathered some of the tips that work best for me, in order to make your stamping even more awesome.

General Tips

First of all you want to make sure you have all the equipment needed in order to go with the stamping technique. So, you will need to have, an image plate, a stamper, a scraper, and a stamping nail polish.

•       Start with abstract images if you are a beginner. Precise shapes will be harder to cover if you fail to transfer them in your stamper.

•     Make sure your stamper is not created from a hard (silicone usually) material. You need a soft and squishy head in order to roll the image all over your nail.

•       Keep everything clean. I’m not telling you this because I’m a cleaning freak but leftover nail polish could cause troubles at the general procedure. The image won’t transfer properly; a messy stamper could mean a messy design, etc.…

•      Most stampers come with their scrapers. Very frequently those scrapers are metallic, and can easily scratch your image plates, and ruin the design. In order to prevent this, I use a plastic card. It does absolutely the same thing, plus it won’t harm your image plates.

•        Not all nail polishes are appropriate for stamping. In my experience normal nail polishes with darker colours work better than lighter. A good tip to see the consistency of you nail polish, is to paint your nail one coat and see if you can see your grown nail underneath.

Make your own stamping decals

• ·      Take a sandwich bag and paint a large square with your topcoat. Once dried, stamp your design and then peal it off.

• ·      You can also go the other way. After you have transferred the design to the stamper, go and add some topcoat or any nail polish you wish to be the background of your nail. Wait for it to dry, and peal it off.

 - To attach the decal, put some clear polish to your nail, and lastly another coat of top coat, to make it stick. File the edges and your are ready to go!
